The Christian Service Center, a private nonprofit social service agency, is one of Central Florida’s oldest interdenominational ministries that helps prevent homelessness, combat poverty, cultivate self-sufficiency and restore hope for families in need. Through partnerships and support from over 7,000 local businesses, foundations, churches, community organizations and individuals the Christian Service Center continues to serve as a stable haven for our community.
“By pooling the resources of our faith community, the Christian Service Center has been able to provide hundreds of thousands of Central Florida families with hope, compassion and direct emergency assistance over the years”, stated Robert Stuart, executive director of the Christian Service Center. “For 40 years, in good times and bad, the Christian Service Center has continued to be a rock on our community for anyone who is struggling.”
The Christian Service Center has four primary programs:
Family & Emergency Services (FES) provides immediate emergency assistance and relief to families and individuals who are faced with an unexpected financial crisis. The primary goal of FES is to help families maintain their residence and prevent them from being forced into homelessness. FES works with individuals in a comfortable case-by-case basis to help develop a sustainable action plan aimed at improving the long term situation of families.
Daily Bread was established with the goal that no person in Central Florida struggle with hunger. Through Daily Bread, anyone who is hungry can eat for free, no questions asked. Daily Bread provides a nourishing noontime meal for families and individuals in the community six days every week.
Fresh Start is a short-term residential program designed for rebuilding and restoring the lives of men who are seeking a new beginning. By restoring dignity and equipping men to acknowledge and overcome their weaknesses, Fresh Start provides a safe environment that fosters personal growth and helps men back onto their feet for a second chance.
KidsFOCUS provides a safe and healthy learning environment for children in economically challenged families who might not have an after-school alternative. KidsFOCUS incorporates the entire family in its program curriculum to emphasize the importance of academic attendance and achievement and to help foster a stable home environment for at-risk children.
