The Christian Service Center is where Central Florida’s faithful hands serve neighbors in need and have for 40 years. From three Central Florida locations, we directly assist thousands of families who need our help every year! Our service to the community is successful, thanks to an incredible and devoted team of volunteers and supporters who partner with the Center year-round to make miracles happen here every day.

COMPASSION VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Pantry Coordinator
The Pantry Coordinator is responsible for sorting donated food items, organizing the storage of goods, stocking the pantry shelves and bagging grocery items for clients. This is a great volunteer position for someone who enjoys organizing. This position takes place inside the food pantry.
Distribution Specialist
The Distribution Specialist is responsible for greeting and assisting all guests at the pantry door, including volunteers who are dropping off donations and clients who are receiving donations. This is a great volunteer position for someone who likes to be around people, because it is largely a relational role. It is recommended that the Distribution Specialist have prior experience volunteering at the Christian Service Center. This position takes place inside the food pantry.
Intake Attendant
The intake attendant is responsible for greeting clients, helping them sign-in, scheduling appointments and assisting Family & Emergency Services case workers. This is a great volunteer position for someone who likes to be around people and is task-oriented, because there will be ample client interaction and a fast-pace, depending on demand. It is recommended that the Intake Attendant have prior experience volunteering at the Christian Service Center. This position takes place in the Family & Emergency Services reception area.
Assistance Expert
The Assistance Expert is that warm voice on the other end of the line fielding incoming phone calls from clients who need help, providing phone consultation and assisting Family & Emergency Services case workers. This is a great volunteer position for someone with the gift of compassion, as it is important to convey love and patience to clients who might be frustrated or discouraged. It is required that the Assistance Expert have prior experience volunteering at the Christian Service Center. This position takes place in the Family & Emergency Services reception area.
Sorting Specialist
The Sorting Specialist is responsible for sorting all the incoming clothing and household donations and determining the best way to distribute them to Christian Service Center clients. This is a perfect volunteer position for someone with a knack for organizing, sorting and identifying clothing’s quality and reusability by looking at it. It is required that the Sorting Specialist have prior experience volunteering in both the Unique Boutique and Thrift Store at the Christian Service Center. This position takes place in the sorting room.
Merchandise Specialist
The Merchandise Specialist maintains the thrift store throughout the shopping day and ensures that the store is tidy, the merchandise is properly sorted and displayed and that customers receive the attention and assistance they need. This volunteer considers current inventory and helps make recommendations for new store displays, promotions and specials. This is a perfect volunteer position for someone who is creative and has experience working in the retail industry. It is recommended that the Merchandise Specialist have prior experience volunteering as a Merchandise Attendant at the Christian Service Center. This position takes place in the thrift store.
Merchandise Attendant
The Merchandise Attendant helps maintain the thrift store throughout the shopping day and ensures that the store is tidy, the merchandise is properly sorted and displayed and that customers receive the attention and assistance they need. In addition, the Merchandise Attendant helps to sort and organize merchandise as it comes in. This is a perfect volunteer position for someone with good customer service skills who enjoys the retail industry. This position takes place in the thrift store.
Bulk Transit Assistant
The Bulk Transit Assistant assists Christian Service Center staff members with the delivery and unloading of materials including food, clothing and household goods. Each day, the Christian Service Center receives thousands of pounds of purchased materials and donated items that are essential to day-to-day operations. This is an ideal volunteer position for someone who is in good physical condition, has a strong work ethic and doesn’t mind heavy lifting. This position takes place at the Center’s main building.
Receptionist The receptionist is the initial point of contact at the Christian Service Center for everyone in the community – truly the face of the Center. The receptionist’s primary responsibility is to maintain a positive Christian Service Center image and to develop public interest, understanding and good will. The position frequently interacts with Christian Service Center staff, clients, volunteers and donors and can truly make or break someone’s experience at the Center. The receptionist is responsible for helping answer people’s questions and making their day a little brighter; this often includes making appropriate referrals, providing directions and explaining programs in a courteous and effective manner. Basic administrative and computer skills are necessary to effectively perform this position.
Dining Room Assistant The Dining Room Assistant helps to ensure the Daily Bread dining room is equipped for its daily service of up to 500 meals for the community. This position includes assisting with room preparation prior to the meal and cleaning after the meal so that it is ready for the following day. The Dining Room Assistant might also provide support during the time of meal service. This is a perfect volunteer position for someone who enjoys serving people and is capable of physical labor like lifting chairs and folding tables. This position takes place in the Daily Bread dining room.
Kitchen Prep Assistant The Kitchen Prep Assistant helps to prepare the Daily Bread kitchen for its daily service of up to 500 meals for the community. This role is needed in the morning, prior to meal time at noon, and includes assisting with the preparation of food as well as preparing the kitchen for cooking and serving. The Kitchen Prep Assistant might also provide various kitchen support during and after the time of meal service. This is a perfect volunteer position for someone who is organized and enjoys working meticulously and efficiently in a culinary environment. This Position takes place in the Daily Bread kitchen.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES WITH FLEXIBLE HOURS AND LOCATION
Prayer Warrior (on or off-site position)
Christian Service Center Prayer Warriors are the absolute most important volunteers we have. We have seen some incredible miracles take place in the lives of our clients that we can only attribute to faithful prayer. On any given day we see hundreds of clients in need of prayers for provision, well-being and Hope, as well as several families who submit specific prayer requests each day. This is a great volunteer opportunity for individuals, families or groups. The best thing about Prayer Warriors is that they are equally effective praying at the Christian Service Center or in the convenience of their own home!
Snack Pack Coordinator (off-site position)
The Snack Pack Coordinator is responsible for organizing, assembling and donating snack packs for those in our community who need them. This is a great volunteer position for someone who likes to take initiative and enjoys reaching out to contacts in the community. It is also a great activity for a group. This is an off-site position where you can control your own hours and timing!
Hygiene Pack Coordinator (off-site position)
The Hygiene Pack Coordinator is responsible for organizing, assembling and donating hygiene packs for those in our community who need them. This is a great volunteer position for someone who likes to take initiative and enjoys reaching out to contacts in the community. It is also a great activity for a group. This is an off-site position where you can control your own hours and timing!
Food Drive/Clothing Drive Coordinator (off-site position)
The Food Drive/Clothing Drive Coordinator is responsible for organizing, eliciting and delivering the donation of goods from the community, including food and clothing items. This is a great volunteer position for someone who likes to take initiative and enjoys reaching out to contacts in the community. It is also designed specifically for someone who has a busy schedule and needs flexibility; this is an off-site position where you can control your own hours!
I have a group of about 10-15 students that would like to volunteer for 1-2 hours on a Saturday or an afternoon after school. They are in our newly formed Interact Club (the high school arm of the Rotary Club). Is this something that would be possible?
